The "High School Portrait Project" is a body of work to mark the moment in time in a person’s life between high school and leaving home. I had each senior come to my studio within a couple weeks of leaving home for their next step. They spent about an hour with me where I asked them to write down on an index card how and what they were feeling. As they were writing we also talked about the transition and the next steps, what they were fearful of, what they were excited about and just what was going through their mind. I was also painting them.
